The United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps (Sea Cadets) is the official youth development program of the U.S. Navy, dedicated to building skills, confidence, and character in young Americans. Here in Southwest Louisiana, the Chennault Battalion invites kids ages 10 up through high school to join a local, disciplined team environment with a world of opportunity.

What is Sea Cadets?
Sea Cadets offers hands-on, team-based learning experiences that mirror real Navy training. Cadets wear uniforms, work together in a structured setting, and are guided by the core values of honor, respect, commitment, and service.

What Do Cadets Do?

  • Monthly Unit Drills: Cadets meet locally one weekend each month for skill-building and teamwork activities.
  • Bootcamp: Every cadet attends a fast-paced, 7–14 day “Recruit Training” or orientation camp, designed to build basic military skills and teamwork.
  • Advanced Training: After completing Recruit Training, cadets can participate in unique camps and trainings nationwide, including:
